You can apply as a partner of a New Zealander, Work Visa or Student Visa holder to gain a visa to work, visit or reside in New Zealand. The visa applied for will be based on your personal circumstances, the length and stability of your partnership and the main applicant’s visa status. For this visa category, the couple must provide evidence that they are living together in a relationship that is credible, genuine and stable. Marriage alone is not sufficient evidence for the purposes of immigration instructions. For residence the couple must be able to demonstrate that they have been living together for a minimum of 12 months at the time the application is lodged.
