How does Visas for Dependent Children work?

Dependent children aged birth to 20 can be included in temporary visa application to join their parent/parents in New Zealand. Children 5-18 can apply for a Student visa which will allow them to attend schooling in New Zealand. Dependent children under the age of 5 or between the ages of 18 and 20 can apply for a Visitor visa in order to live in New Zealand with their parents.

For resident visas, children must be either aged 0 to 17, or

18 to 20 years old, single with no dependents or

21-24 years old, single with no dependents and totally and substantially financially dependent on an adult
